Padron (registration) in Spain-it’s never been so easy

Obtaining official registration in the city of residence in Spain is an important step for anyone planning to stay in Spain for longer than six months and brings with it many benefits. Registering your Empadronamiento / Padrón with the local city council, or Ayuntamiento, gives you access to affordable health insurance cards and voting rights, as well as discounts on nearby events and special activities. It doesn’t take long to register – all you need to do is provide proof of residence within three months, and then renew every five years or whenever you change residence!

Torrevieja launches online application to apply for Padron

If you are in a hurry to get an up-to-date Padron, the city of Torrevieja has done something that helps a lot as it launches the automation of the municipal register.
Councillor for Census and Statistics, Inmaculada Montesinos, stressed the importance of the new service, which will speed up the procedures for applying for and obtaining a Padron.

Using the torrevieja.es website, citizens can apply for and obtain individual and collective Padron certificates directly through a digital device.

The methods of application are electronic signature, digital certificate, pin code or fixed code.

Once you have completed all the processing documents, you will receive a special email from the City Council – download it.

Councillor for Innovation and Modernisation, Ricardo Recuero, highlighted that, as of Monday, 13 February, 237 certificates had already been issued electronically thanks to this new service of the municipal digital registry.

The Census and Statistics Department also has a new telephone appointment service, which can be used by calling (+34) 607 822 861, between 9am and noon, Monday to Friday.
